Course Description:
Everyone has been impacted by the challenges that have arisen due to COVID-19. Some families have been ravaged by economic, emotional, and physical loss. It can lead to questioning whether we have the strength or wherewithal to cope with all of this. Resiliency is a change agent within therapeutic play and works to increase personal strength.
This course will examine resiliency research and provide creative play-based interventions that help the client ignite within themselves their inner strength through play therapy. In this time of post-COVID-19 with all the social, environmental, and political challenges, enhancing resilience will enable all of us to get through this together. This course is a rich opportunity to ignite inner strength through play.
Learning Objectives:
- Define at least 2 components that demonstrate the importance of the integration of resiliency strategies for youth in play therapy.
- Examine and practice at least 2 play-based strategies for improving resiliency in youth in play therapy.
- Identify at least 2 play-based strategies for instilling hope in youth impacted by COVID-19.
This 1-hour training is intended for mental health professionals who wish to improve their expertise in working with children and their families through the power of play therapy.
